Long before the world knew him as one of America’s most famous writers, Samuel Clemens was finding his voice in Virginia City, NV.
During the 1860s, Clemens worked as a reporter for the Territorial Enterprise, writing about life on the Comstock in a bold, colorful style that became part of the Mark Twain legacy.
His time in Nevada was short, but it left a lasting mark on both the writer and the region.
With Mark Twain Days coming up, we’re celebrating the characters, stories, and wonderfully unpredictable place that helped shape him.
