Parish House
Goodwin Jones, an engineer for the Caledonia Mine, built the Parish House as his home with fir framing and redwood exterior walls to last. The house is standing square and true to date, though, some minor settling of the bay windows is noticeable. Other notable figures including Robert Patterson, the proprietor of the International Saloon, Dr. Thomas McDonald, a physician and John McGrath, a known merchant on C Street, would also call the house ‘home’. Noticeable throughout town after the Great Fire, the house’s Italiante style is characterized by its vertical emphasis, overbearing eaves and decorative details.
