To carry on with what Mark Twain loved most about NevadaÑthe characters, the excitement, and the spirit of the westÑwe invite you to the Mark Twain Days Festival in Virginia City and Downtown Carson City. Discover yourself like Samuel Clemens did when he left Missouri to find his true identity in Nevada with art, music, literary events, neighborhood tours and so much more. Take the Twain Train up to Virginia City on Friday, May 10 or drive yourself throughout the weekend! Full Virginia City schedule of events below.
Friday, May 10:
- St. Mary’s Art Center: Mark Twain Days Art after Dark allow you to experience an evening of art, history and live music. The event runs from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Additional details and tickets can be purchased here.
- Fourth Ward School & Museum: Learn about Mark Twain’s formative time in Virginia City from Nevada historian Joe Curtis from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Learn more about Fourth Ward School here.
- Territorial Enterprise: From 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., tours of the historic museum will last 30 minutes. Tickets can be purchased here.

Saturday, May 11:
- St. Mary’s Art Center: Mark Twain Days and Celebrate Mother’s Event! Explore eight fine art & artesian galleries, enjoy a pop-up Mark Twain Exhibition, participate in our Art Lab and more! Event run from 11 a.m to 4 p.m. Additional details and tickets can be purchased here.
- Fourth Ward School & Museum: Celebrate the time of Mark Twain with a Victorian Tea & Brunch paired with Victorian hat fashion & history presentations. The event, which runs from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., will include live music and games. Purchase tickets here.
