Event Details
Piper’s Opera House and The Comstock Foundation bring you ‘The History of Trains in Western Movies’ as part of their lecture series, April 13 from 7-9 pm.
Beginning in December of 1903 with the Edison/Porter Silent Classic “The Great Train Robbery”, both the movie Western and the birth of the motion picture industry were born. The dynamic image of a train and steam locomotive helped propel the excitement and imagery to audiences as never before. Join us as our own Jim Clark AKA The Hollywood Train Man takes us through a journey of Trains in Western films from 1903 forward. The entire long-cut silent version of The Great Train Robbery at a staggering eleven minutes will lead our presentation.
BIO: Jim Clark has over thirty-five years of railroad motion picture experience, professionalism, knowledge, script breakdown and development, budget preparation, scout locations, equipment acquisition, transportation, props, set dressing, track construction, liaison with railroad personnel, compliance with Federal regulations, implement and execute a railroad specific safety program.
Cost is $10 per person.
Doors open at 6:30 pm and the lecture starts at 7 pm.
