Lecture at the Gold Hill Hotel

Join us for our next Lecture at the Gold Hill Hotel featuring Joe Curtis and Ron Gallagher, “What Happened to all the Old Buildings – Part 2,” a historic lecture.

This presentation includes photos of buildings and structures that were on the Comstock all the way up until the 1950s but are gone now – many never before seen. Includes some stories about the building, and what is in their place today. In its glory days, the Comstock was a stunning city of mansions, stores, saloons, mills and mines. Learn about their history and where they are – or aren’t – today.  The presenters will also add specific Gold Hill history and discuss facts from Joe’s book, “Slippery Gulch.”

Bios:
Joe Curtis’s parents moved to Virginia City in 1958 when they bought a building and opened a museum dedicated to the history of life on the Comstock. He grew up amidst the museum and became infatuated with the history of the Comstock and began collecting old photos of the area back in the day. Ron Gallagher is a local “aged artifact” of the Comstock. Raised here, with lots of relatives dating well into the lower 1800s and a head full of Comstock knowledge, recollections. stories and other associated Comstock BS.

Dinner starts at 4:30 p.m. and the lecture starts at 7:00 p.m. Costs $10 per person.
